Key Details to get you onto a Montreal Pride Shuttle Bus
From August 8th to the 18th, Montreal Pride is a whopping ten days of rainbows, lip syncing, dance parties, and more! If you’re looking for a way to get there, consider buying a ticket on a rideshare. A rideshare is a shuttle bus from predetermined pickup locations to a special event like a festival, concert, game, or parade. For MTL Pride, we’ll have a shuttle service organized for the day of the Parade, on August 18th from various pickup points around the province.
If you are traveling in a group that is smaller than 15 passengers, a sprinter van may be the right vehicle choice for you. Bus.com offers sprinter vans for rent in Montreal that can be driven by a member of your team. Of course, it is also possible to opt for a professional chauffeur with your rental.
The Main Event: The Parade
On the final day of the celebration (August 18th, 2019), the famous Pride Parade starts rolling. 2018 saw 300,000 spectators and 12,000 people walking and dancing out their pride. This year participants will highlight the color violet, so, whether you’re walking or watching, break out your purples! The parade starts at 1pm on Metcalfe, then travels down Rene-Levesque to the heart of the Village. Half-way through the event, a moment of silence will be held at 2:30pm EST. Come in purple, come as you are, however you dress, whoever you are—make your way to the parade. Arrive early to secure a prime pride viewing point.
Enjoy More MTL Pride
Montreal Pride is more than a parade. Before you choose your arrival date, check the program to see which events tickle your fancy. There’s Community Day on the 17th, a chance to visit the kiosks of LGBTQ+ supporting organizations, sports teams, and businesses. Don’t miss Drag Superstars, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 Winner Sasha Velour. Other megastar performers include A’Keria Chanel Davenport, Brooke Lynn Hytes (the first Canadian Drag Race competitor), Willam Belli, and Manila Luzon. The event and performer announcements are just beginning, so keep checking the MTL Pride website and follow their twitter for secret slips and surprises.
